AbilityOne

The AbilityOne Program is one of the largest American programs for hiring people who are blind or have significant disabilities. It  provides services and products to the American government, all of which are manufactured in the USA.

At the end of 2021, there were 42,000 employees with blindness or severe disabilities, and 3,000 employed American veterans. The leaders of the program are members of various government agencies, and also several civilians who are well informed of the struggles related to employing the blind or severely disabled. 

The government has guidelines in place for the order of where to go to obtain items and services. Products must be purchased through AbilityOne before moving on to wholesale suppliers, and services must prioritize AbilityOne before Federal Prison Industries.
